BORN TO BE A CHEF
Born in Amasya in 1971, Tolga Atalay's test in the kitchen began at the age of 17.
He studied in Lausanne hospitality management and had his master degree in food & beverage in
Center International de Glion. He then took on the role of
Executive Chef at 24 before establishing his own consulting
firm at 27. Atalay has taken on the conceptual project of
over 120 restaurants to date; he's also the man behind many
of Turkey's classic venues. Atalay focuses on each detail
from the kitchen to the name, the story to the decor. At the
root of his Okka dream, which dates back to the early-2000s,
is his grandfather's homeland Malatya and his father's 32
year history in Gaziantep. In addition to serving as the
Executive Chef at W Istanbul, an innovative leader in global
hotel trends, Atalay is also a recognizable figure in popular
culinary culture thanks to the television programs he's
hosted to date.
